The meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement/UNESCO – Paris Chapter was held

The third meeting in 2022 of the Non-Aligned Movement/UNESCO – Paris Chapter, chaired by Azerbaijan, was held at the UNESCO Headquarters.

Ambassadors and Permanent Delegates of the Member States of the Non-Aligned Movement to UNESCO participated in the meeting chaired by Elman Abdullayev, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan to UNESCO.

After the Agenda of the meeting was adopted, the Permanent Delegate Elman Abdullayev welcomed the newly appointed ambassadors of the NAM Member States and wished them all success in their missions.

The meeting also discussed the activities of the Azerbaijani Presidency since the last meeting of 10 June 2022.

The Chair mentioned that the Coordinating Group of Ambassadors of the NAM Member States in the UNESCO Executive Board was established. In order to better deliver the voice of the NAM Member States on the UNESCO platform, it was said that during the 215^th session of the UNESCO Executive Board to be held in October 2022, the interventions will be made by the Chair on certain topics in accordance with the interests of the members of the Movement. The Ambassadors appreciated the mentioned initiative and expressed their support.

The report of the previous meeting was also heard and adopted.

The meeting continued with discussions on the candidacies of the Non-Aligned Movement Member States to UNESCO bodies and various issues.
